SENIOR ASST. II – TECHNICAL SERVICES

QUALIFICATIONS

High school degree required.  Experience in library materials processing or other related administrative areas required. Comfort, familiarity and basic usage skills in new information technologies.  Self-motivated with ability to communicate and function in a team environment.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Technical Services and Collection Development Manager, prepares library materials for public use.  Completes processing procedures.  Uses system reports to provide counts and lists of items for discard.  Weeds and processes discarded materials.  Assesses materials for damage and completes repairs as needed. Receives and processes shipments.  Responsible for providing excellent customer service.

HOURS

20 Hours per week.  Required to adapt to future schedule changes based on library needs.

JOB CLASSIFICATION

Senior Assistant II, Salary Grade 220, non-exempt

SALARY

$11.80 per hour

Job Title

Young Adult Specialist

 

QUALIFICATIONS

ALA-accredited MLS is required. One to three years of public library experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of principles, theories and concepts of library science is required. Excellent command of children’s literature, particularly for young adults and their families is essential. Comfort, familiarity and basic usage skills for new information technologies as well as strong written, verbal, customer service and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to communicate and function effectively in a team-oriented environment is critical.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Youth Services Manager, the Young Adult Specialist is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of young adult and tween programs and services for the library. Assists with collection development, markets programs and services, acts as a liaison with community organizations, and maintains the Young Adult area as an active learning environment, advocating for the needs of this segment of our community.

HOURS

40 Hours Per Week
Evening and weekend hours required as needed

JOB CLASSIFICATION

Exempt, Librarian/Specialist; Salary Grade 320

SALARY RANGE

$19.60 - $26.40
