Test Drive Special Needs Apps

Photo of WPPL's iPad loaded with special needs appsThe Westlake Porter Public Library now has an iPad filled with special needs apps. Parents and Educators can test drive apps to decide if they want to buy them. We have apps for communication such as Proloquo2Go as well as apps for helping children with learning disabilities including writing, reading and math apps. We even have apps that help build social skills and design sensory breaks.

To see the iPad, visit the Youth Services desk at WPPL. You can use it in one of our study rooms and even have your child "try it out."

This service is part of WPPL's Special Needs Resource section, which contains books and DVDs on a variety of topics including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, special education law, social skills, anxiety, depression, Down Syndrome, behavior, mental illness and more. It also has books for siblings and friends of children with special needs.

The Special Needs Resource section is in the Youth Department. You can also search "Connecting for Kids" in the online catalog to see a complete list of materials available for checkout.

If you have any questions please call the WPPL children's desk at 440-250-5471 or send us a message from the contact page.

The iPad cannot leave the library. To use the iPad you need a driver's license and a WPPL library card in good standing. You don't have to live in Westlake to obtain a WPPL library card.
