Book heart Winter Reading 2017

The 2017 Winter Reading Program for Adults begins Sunday, January 29 and continues until Saturday, February 25. Join anytime while the program is going on and read at your own pace.

  • Read/listen to any book. You may read fiction, non-fiction, ebooks, on the computer, listen to an audiobook or downloadable recorded book, or a Playaway.
  • Count any reading you have done during the program dates.
  • Fill out an entry form either online or at the library for each book you read.

There will be weekly prize drawings from all entries.

Are you scared yet? The Horror Film Club invites you to join us Wednesday, March 1st at 6:30pm in the Dover Room for our next creepy classic from the Vault... if you dare!

In our next film, a beautiful young woman attempts to bring reform to the notorious Bedlam Asylum. However, her efforts attract the attention of the cruel Master Simms, who runs Bedlam, and who has her admitted as a patient in order to silence her. Starring Boris Karloff and Anna Lee.

Drug & Alcohol Awareness: How the Birds Stop Singing

Cover of How the Birds Stop Singing by Jamile Wakim Fleming MDDr. Jamile Wakim Fleming will discuss her book How the Birds Stop Singing, her firsthand account of the dangers of alcohol and drug use. Dr. Fleming's book was written with the goal of helping teens refrain from using any form of addictive substance. The program is open to teens and adults.

Distribution of Ohio Tax Forms Ending

In recent years the Ohio Department of Taxation has found that only 10% of printed personal income tax returns end up being filed with the state of Ohio. To eliminate this waste of paper, they are ending bulk distributions. Income Tax Instruction booklets, however, will continue to be sent to public libraries.

Playaway Launchpad Tablets for Kids Are Available Now!

Playaway Launchpad

On January 9th, WPPL began lending Playaway Launchpads: touchscreen tablets designed for young children that come pre-loaded with fun apps.

The Launchpads will be available to check out for 7 days with no renewals, one per library card. You can find them in the Children’s AV area.
