The first work day of the month saw the garden's underground irrigation system being installed.

Through the windows: potting shed and landscape plants arrive. Guilford Library users see the Potting Shed being built and first landscape trees and shrubs arriving on the scene.
Planting begins May 5. Guilford Planting of trees and shrubs began May 5. The garden is beginning to look green!
End-of-day, May 5. Planting well-started. Guilford The first day's planting went well but there's much more to do. Ahhh.... the smell of fresh topsoil and mulch!
Trim and roofing are applied to the "potting shed" structure. Guilford

Trim and roofing are applied to the "potting shed" structure and a mysterious object covered in a blue tarpaulin appears. Hmm... what could it be?

Fountain is unveiled. Guilford From under the tarp came a beautiful bronze fountain --a boy under an umbrella-- to become a water feature in the northeastern area of the garden.
Stain applied; outer wall posts placed. Guilford A protective coating of stain is applied to one of the pergolas while another worker prepares base posts for the garden's outer wall.
Construction of outer wall begins. Guilford It's the last day of May and work has begun on the final major component of the project: the masonry and steel outer wall. When finished it will be an attractive feature... really!
