Old Porter Library is the first of three library buildings to serivce Dover/Westlake. It is depicted here, by Mary Ann Goory, just as it appeared on its site west of Dover Center Road on the south side of Center Ridge Road. The first fire and police departments were located in a garage-like structure directly behind the library. Imagine early library partons being startled out of their reverie by the clanging of the fire bell!
