Tuesday, January 31 (7 - 8 p.m.) Teens Talk Books -- Last Tuesday of each month. Grades 6 - 12. Friends, food and fun!

February 1 - 14 Hearts & Kisses Count — Sweets for your sweetie - or better yet, keep them for yourself! Either way, stop in and see how many kisses are in the teen area. Teens only, grades 6 - 12.

Wednesday, February 8 (7:30 - 9 p.m.) Telescope Viewing: Saturn, the Ringed World. Activity is outdoors and weather dependent. No registration.

Thursday, February 9 (6:30 p.m.) The Diabetes Epidemic — Mary Ellen Grady, RN, MSN, will teach you how to manage this disease. Presented by Fairview Hospital. Call (877) 234-3488 to register.

Sunday, February 12 (2 p.m.) Sunday Sounds — The Friends of the Library present the Johnny Barton Quintet.

Tuesday, February 14 (7 p.m.) Book Discussion Group — This month’s selection is Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. Books available at the Circulation Desk. New members welcome.

Sunday, February 19 (2 p.m.) Joyful Noise at the Library — This month’s performer is Brittany Klatte. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Monday, February 20 (10 a.m.) Cabin Fever Concert — Chip Richter’s “Cabin Fever” concert is presented by the Westlake Westshore Arts Council to entertain kids on Presidents Day. Tickets available at the Youth Services Desk beginning February 13.

Tuesday, February 21 (7 p.m.) The Meaning of Mindfulness — Catherine Lee, CSJ is back to teach you how to assess the stress in your life, create peace, and live mindfully. Registration required.

Wednesday, February 22 (2 p.m.) Afternoon Book Discussion Group — This month’s selection is The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Books available at the Circulation Desk. New members welcome.

Wednesday, February 22 and March 22 (7 - 7:45 p.m.) Wonderful Wednesday — Stories, songs, and more geared for kids ages 3-8 and their caregivers. Registration required, starting February 15 and March 15 (please register separately for each).

Thursday, February 23 (1:30 p.m.) Snow White — The Ohio Dance Theatre will read Snow White, bring some costumes and interact with children ages 3 -5 and their caregivers. Registration required, beginning February 16.

Thursday, February 23 and March 23 (3:45  - 4:30 p.m.) Pickle Tree Club — Children in grades K-2 will explore the real and not-so-real world through various activities. Registration required, beginning Feb. 16 and March 16 (please register separately for each).

Friday, February 24 (10 - 10:45 a.m.) Come Play With Me — Children ages 2-4 with their caring adults will enjoy open play time with a variety of age appropriate toys. Registration required, starting February 17 and March 17 (please register separately for each).

Saturday, February 25 and March 25 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) MITICraft Saturday — A drop-in Make-It-Take-It craft experience for children and their caring adults.

Monday, February 27 (1 - 7 p.m.) American Red Cross Bloodmobile — Give the gift of life by giving blood.


March 2006

March 1 - 31 How Are We Doing? — We want to know what kinds of programs or specific items you would like to see at the library. Filling out a survey = one entry for a prize drawing! Teen area. Grades 6-12.

Thursday, March 2 (7 - 8:45 p.m.) Investors Interest Group — Bob Ensign of AAII will discuss How to Set Up a Stock Screen. Registration required.

Friday, March 3, 10 and 17 (9:30 a.m.) Love Your Baby — a series for parents of very young children. Attend one program or all three, but please register individually. The March 3 program features doula Rae Schmidt on “Happiest Baby on the Block” techniques. Check with the library for details on the March 10 and 17 programs.

Tuesday, March 7 (7:30 p.m.) FYI Opera: Turandot — Join Cleveland Opera co-founder David Bamberger for a discussion of Puccini’s popular final opera. Sponsored by the Westlake-Westshore Arts Council, the Cleveland Opera, and WPPL.

Wednesday, March 8 (7:30 - 9 p.m.) Telescope Viewing: Saturn & The Pleiades. Activity is outdoors and weather dependent.

Sunday, March 12 (2 p.m.) Sunday Sounds — The Friends of the Library present Stephanie Vetrone portraying romantic poet Emily Dickinson.

Tuesday, March 14 (7 p.m.) Book Discussion Group — This month’s selection is The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. Books available at the Circulation Desk. New members welcome.

Saturday, March 18 OR Sunday, March 19 (2 - 4 p.m.) Knit Know How — A knitting class for beginners. We’ll show you the basics and supply the materials. You just need to know how to make a slip knot. Teens only, grades 6 -12. Registration required: March 18 or March 19.

Tuesday, March 21 (7 p.m.) Developing Your Image Quotient — Have your closets become a graveyard for unflattering, uninspired clothing? Join Kristen Kaleal of Fusion Image Group, for tips on overcoming these wardrobe malfunctions. Registration required.

Saturday, March 25 (10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) Financial Awareness 101—  Join us for this day-long series on various financial topics for all levels of expertise. Lunch is free if you attend two or more sessions. Topics include Credit and Debt: What You Should Know, Investing in Stocks: Getting Started, Investing in Mutual Funds: Getting Started, and more. Separate registration required for all sessions and for lunch.
