Outreach

We provide service for up to 15 facilities in the city of Westlake including six skilled-nursing homes, four independent, four assisted-living retirement homes, and one alzheimer's assisted living facility.

All of those facilities receive monthly book deliveries. The residents of the nursing homes receive one-on-one individual deliveries while the other facilities laptop deliveries - mixed batches of library material selected by library staff. Individuals choose their own material and check it out to their own library card.

All of the facilities receive programming from Westlake Porter Public Library. The programs are put together and presented by Outreach staff and are intended to evoke memory sharing and reminiscence. Presentations are given on a monthly basis to eight facilities. Programs are also presented on a quarterly basis to the independent and assisted facilities.

Homebound Service

Westlake residents of any age who are temporarily or permanently confined to their homes may have library materials delivered to them. Requested materials can include books (large or regular print), audio cassettes, large-print Reader's Digest, videos, CD's, DVD's and magazines. Deliveries are made once per month by volunteers and are limited to Westlake residents. There is no charge for this service. Contact an Outreach Services staff member for more information at 871-2600.
