Summer is Here!

Beach BallSummer is in full swing and many families are heading to the beach.  Whether your beach is near or far, you are bound to have a wonderful time.  Kids can spend hours playing in the sand.  Beach House by Deanna Caswell and illustrated by Amy June Bates is perfect book to read before your trip to the beach.  

 

 

Beach House has colorful and engaging illustrations that children love.  The rhyming story makes you feel like you are at the beach.  After reading Beach House, your child can make his own simple beach ball craft from items you have around the house.

Materials

  • White paper plate
  • Red Construction Paper
  • Pencil
  • Colored Markers
  • Glue

Instructions

  1. Cut a circle from the red construction paper to fit in the middle of the paper plate (please use picture as your guide)
  2. Glue red circle into place
  3. Use the pencil to mark sections of the beach ball.  Draw five lines equidistant apart from the red circle to the edge of the paper plate
  4. Color each section of paper plate a different color with the colored markers.
