System maintenance, partial outage set for Jan. 3-5

Cloud computing iconWestlake Porter Public Library has scheduled a major system upgrade for Jan. 3 through Jan. 5, 2017. During the transition, the library system that provides the online catalog and keeps track of user accounts, checkouts and holds will have very limited function.

For these three days:

  • Online access to My Account will not be available.
  • Holds can not be placed, removed, suspended or unsuspended.
  • The library will be unable to send available-hold notices, pre-overdue courtesy reminders or overdue notices.
  • The catalog will be completely unavailable for about two hours when the work begins, from 8 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
  • Access to library databases and digital services could be affected, especially on the morning of Jan. 3.
  • The library will be open regular hours and all services will be available, though some might be affected by the project.
  • Library staff are dedicated to making this process go as smoothly as possible. To help limit problems, no materials will have due dates that fall from Jan. 1 through Jan. 5. Notices for holds, overdues and pre-overdue reminders will resume on Jan. 6.

Library users whose accounts are expired or blocked as of closing on Jan. 2 might have trouble checking out materials during the three-day transition.

As always, feel free to ask library staff for assistance. Online users can use the Contact Us form, or call 440-871-2600.

The benefits of this upgrade will be seen in the coming months. The system is being moved to a more modern database structure that will allow us to improve services.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
