Thank You from the Library's Board and Staff

Save Ohio Libraries

The Westlake Library Board of Trustees and Library Staff would like to thank everyone for the incredible support and response to the Governor and State Legislators regarding the current biennium library budget reduction proposal.

The Ohio Library Council has informed Libraries across Ohio that the library voice has been heard - loud and proud. They have further advised that the Budget Conference Committee plans to have a hearing on Saturday morning to discuss amendments. Their goal is to have the budget ready for vote on Monday, June 29.

We are so grateful for the outpouring of support shown for libraries all over the state. Many people have become aware that libraries are not just a “luxury” that we can afford to do without. Libraries are a place that many of the unemployed create resumes, fill out job applications, and search for job opportunities. Libraries are a place where people learn to speak English as a second language and study for education at all levels. Libraries are a place where learning and literacy take place every day. Libraries are a place where public meetings are held and many groups meet to discuss how they can make our community better. Libraries are a place where entrepreneurs come to find out how to start a business.

Whatever the outcome, the Westlake Porter Public Library will continue to work towards our mission “to educate, empower, enlighten and excite” at the highest level.

Sincerely,

The Westlake Porter Public Library Board of Trustees and the Westlake Porter Public Library Staff
