When Creel's aunt decided to give her to a dragon to try to make a bit of money off of a noble knight who comes to save her, she doesn't expect to be leaving any time soon. But when the dragon lets Creel go after giving her a pair of blue slippers in return for not fighting a knight, odd things begin to happen. She meets another dragon called Shardas, who helps her and takes her to the King's Seat, the capital of her nation. But a while later, her slippers are stolen, and the chain of events that follows leads Creel to believe that her shoes may be more than just a pair of blue slippers.
