Awards season may have come to an end, but here in Cleveland preparations are in full swing for the 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF). This year’s CIFF, which takes place April 4-April 15 at Tower City Cinemas, offers 215 feature films representing 72 countries, plus short films, virtual reality films and interactive media projects. https://www.clevelandfilm.org/.

Movie awards season is here and in full swing! A look at an awards season calendar is dizzying to say the least! The Film Independent Spirit Awards nominees were announced back in November. In December the Golden Globe Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations were announced.

Hollywood - Behind the Scenes

It may still be winter holiday season, but pretty soon it will be another favorite season - "Oscar season".  The final 2017 movie releases  will be out within the next two weeks and then award season will begin in earnest.

I don’t know about you, but even though the official start of summer is sometime around June 21, the REAL start of summer, for me, is as soon as school lets out. As soon as that last bell rings and the last bus roars by it is SUMMER—time to break out the sunglasses and fall asleep in a hammock!

Rainy Day Films

Well of course it’s sunny and beautiful today as I am writing this post, but the inspiration for it came on Wednesday—gloomy, rainy Wednesday—when a patron asked for a particular film and remarked that it was her favorite “go-to” rainy day film.  So since we’re bound to have our share of rainy days in the future, I shall channel my inner Boy Scout motto
