Night of Thunder is the fifth novel in the Bob Lee Swagger series by Stephen Hunter. {The first novel in the series Point of Impact was recently made into the movie Shooter starring Mark Wahlberg.} Bob Lee Swagger is a former Marine Gunnery Sergeant who served three tours in Vietnam as a sniper. Night of Thunder begins when his grown daughter Nikki, a newspaper reporter, is forced off the road in eastern Tennessee and seriously injuried, right before a major NASCAR event. The more Bob Lee looks into the events of that night, the more it looks less like an accident and more like attempted murder. Who is hunting Nikki?
