Well, I thought I could edit my previous post to continue discussion on "A Wrinkle in Time: the graphic novel" but sadly, such is not the case. So I'll post here instead.
As a graphic novel (illustrated by Hope Larson), "A Wrinkle in Time" does not disappoint. The depictions of Meg, Charles Wallace and the rest of the gang work very well--Meg especially hovers beautifully in that awkward-teen-brink-of-womanhood-but-still-a-girl world; when she's in a snit she looks like a bratty kid, but in her most challenging and vulnerable moments you can see flashes of the adult she will become. The other characters reveal much of themselves in the drawings as well, and the clear lines and minimal color in the frames keep the focus on them instead of drowning the viewer in a futuristic-imagined visual chaos.
Did it live up to my imagination? Not in all ways, but it is a solid depiction and worth a read or two!
