Baby, it's cold outside! But Miss Jamie keeps things active in Lapsit Storytime! Here's a couple of rhymes you can do at home:
EASY PEASY
Easy peasy (clap baby's hands)
Nice and easy (clap)
Stretch your arms (stretch out baby's arms)
And bend your knee-sies! (tickle baby's knees)

TWO LITTLE BIRDIES

Two little birdies sitting on a hill(hold up index fingers)
One named Jack (wag one finger)
The other named Jill (wag other finger)
Fly away, Jack! ("fly" one finger behind back)
Fly away, Jill! (fly other finger)
Come back, Jack! ("fly" finger back out front)
Come back, Jill! (fly other finger back)

Miss Jamie also read "Baby At the Farm" by Karen Katz and "Pajama Time!" by Sandra Boynton.

In Toddler Storytime, Miss Beth and Poe had lots of help with the laundry! Stories read were:

"Clothesline" by Jez Albrough and "Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash" by Sarah Weeks

Here are some fingerplays you can do with your child at home:

WASHING CLOTHES

Put the clothes in the washer.
(pretend to put clothes in)
The water trickles in.
(wiggle fingers, move downward)
The clothes go round and round.
(move arms in back & forth circular motion)
Then they spin, spin, spin.
(move finger quickly in circular motion)

Now put them in the dryer.
(pretend to put in dryer)
Where they tumble around.
(roll hands over each other)
They tumble, tumble, tumble
With hardly any sound.
(put finger to lips, whisper this line)

EARLY IN THE MORNING
Tune: "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush" (suit actions to words)

This is the way we wash our clothes,
Wash our clothes, wash our clothes.
This is the way we wash our clothes,
So early in the morning.

This is the way we dry our clothes…
This is the way we iron our clothes…
This is the way we mend our clothes…
This is the way we fold our clothes…

We also danced to Jim Gill's "Silly Dance Contest" and had fun walking and hopping to Greg & Steve's "Listen and Move".

In Mrs. Ring's Preschool Storytime we warmed up our toes with the classic "Mexican Hat Dance", a "Polar Bear Stomp" by the Chenille Sisters and got our fingers tapping to "Rhythm in My Fingers" by Jim Gill. Stories we read were:

Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner
The Three Snow Bears by Jan Brett
Fox Makes Friends by Adam Relf

Until next time, keep warm and keep reading!
