More websites!

Yes, I found even more websites to keep you and your kids busy over Christmas break!  PBS has created another wonderful site--this time involving nutrition.  It's called Lunch Lab, and has great graphics with informative, funny "shorts," recipes, games, food facts, and safety tips for cooking.  Click pbskids.org/lunchlab to try it yourselves!

Another Youtube-ish site for the younger set is called, Kideos and is aimed at kids 3 and up.  Click www.kideos.com to find some (safe) laughs.

Game Classroom sounds like it could be a complete bore, but it's actually a fantastic site for math and language arts reinforcement for grades K-6.  It was created by educational professionals, and is able to be used with Nintendo Wii systems.  This isn't your typical skill building site or dreary workbook--it's quite engaging and fun!  Click www.gameclassroom.com  and let your kids explore.

If your kids need help with a history project or tough assignment, this site is a gem.  Created by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Our Story, is for grades K-12.  Eras of study range from 1620-present.  A handy filter narrows your search for the type of resources you need--primary, reference, worksheets, artifacts, etc.  Site includes suggested field trips to enhance the area of study, books, activities, reading guides, and crafts.  This one is a winner!  Click americanhistory.si.edu/ourstory to finish that project or just lurk while you learn!

Thanks to School Library Journal and Common Sense Media for these sites!

Until next time....
