Hello, comics fans! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to the new year in comics. I know I am.
But while I wait for our new comics to arrive, I am doing a little traveling back to a simpler time, when comics were only in the newspapers. Yes, yes, it is true--I was raised in the era of Sunday comics and The Waltons--I even have a shadowy memory of a black & white television with rabbit ears and ONLY THREE CHANNELS.
Where was I? Oh yes, comics. I've started re-discovering the comics of my youth! Some of them are still around today in syndication, some are only available in book format, some have been all but forgotten.
My pick today is that lovable feline with a slight weight problem, Garfield! From the creative mind of Jim Davis, this furball with attitude loves naps, lasagna and Thanksgiving turkeys and gives his owner, John, headaches galore. I've been chuckling my way through the first few collections, like "Garfield at Large" and am having a great time. For all its simplicity, it is very clever and even more enjoyable now in my grown-up-hood.
Check him out, or some other comics you may have forgotten. It's a nice trip down memory lane.
Until Next Time--
