.....the very odd title SLOB by Ellen Potter. The Oreo cookie on the cover looked so delicious WordWeaver wanted to take a bite. What does 12-year-old Owen Birnbaum do when someone keeps stealing his Oreo cookies packed in his lunch sack? Even when Owen sets a trap to catch the thief it doesn't work. Not only that, Owen is the fattest kid in his class. He feels pretty much like a great big boulder. Other weird things start happening like his sister wanting to have a boy's name all of a sudden and then there's a scar-faced kid at school who seems bent on destroying Owen.
However, Owen is also a genius and he invents many really neat contraptions. He is on the road to unraveling a mystery that happened two years ago with the help of a readapted tv. Owen will soon find that the answer to the mystery is not in the past but in the present. This is a funny and very touching story. You won't soon forget Owen. Ages 10 and up.
