Amelia Bedelia 5/23/07

On Thursday May 10th, Storyteller and myself had the opportunity to meet Herman Parish. Herman Parish is the current author of the infamous Amelia Bedelia books. The orginal author, Peggy Parish, passed away in 1988 and her newphew Herman had big shoes to fill.

Amelia Bedelia is one of my absolute favorite characters in children's literature. Amelia Bedelia is a maid that does EXACTLY what you ask her to do. For example, if you take her camping and ask her to pitch the tent, she will pick up the tent and actually pitch it across the lawn. If you tell Amelia Bedelia to go jump in a lake...Guess what....she will run and jump into the lake.
