......to share with you. There are three good ones for you to enjoy. Two of them are a little bit scary and the third is just for fun.
The first is THE SEER OF SHADOWS by Avi. It is a ghost story set in New York City in 1872. Fourteen-year-old Horace is a photographer's apprentice whose employer embarks on a scheme to trick a rich family out of money by placing an image of their dead daughter in a photograph taken of the mother. Little does Horace expect that somehow he makes the ghost come alive in the photograph and that the ghost is out for revenge! Ages 10 and up.
I came across a really wonderful and fun website from Ben & Jerry's "in the magazine, "Library Sparks", Oct., 2008.
I had to tear myself away from it in order to write this to share with you. Kids, grownups, everyone will have a ball with this website which celebrates the season.
To start you off, try reading WAY DOWN DEEP by Ruth White. It is part mystery and part fable and will make you want to live in this very special town with the orphan Ruby June and the wonderful people who surround her. Where did she come from? Ages 9 and up.
WordWeaver. Read THE CANDY SHOP WARS by Brandon Mull and you'll never take candy from strangers.
